Jim Basilone
Basilone played
four years of college baseball at Edinboro University. He currently
holds the single season stolen base record. During his four years at
Edinboro, he played centerfield and was the Scots leadoff hitter. Two of
those years he was selected to the Pennsylvania State All Conference
Team.
Coach Basilone has
a Bachelor of Science Degree from Edinboro University, and a Masters in
Education from Clarion University. He has been coaching baseball for the
past 30 years. Several of those years were Varsity Head Coaching
positions.
Coach Basilone has
experience on the College and High School levels. In 1980 he was one of
the assistant coaches at The College of Wooster. During his time at
Wooster they were ranked 7th Nationally NCAA Division III. Basilone, who
has been coaching at North Allegheny use to be the Head Junior Varsity
Baseball Coach.
This will be his
second year as the head coach at Ingomar Middle School. Coach Basilone
has developed a positive baseball environment at IMS. Last years team
had a record of 12 wins and 7 losses.
Basilone has
experience as a head coach on the high school level as well. His teams
and the teams that he has assisted have won SECTION, WPIAL, and PIAA
championships. They have also been ranked as high as 11th in the nation.
Several of his players have moved on to play Division I, II, and III
college baseball. He also had players in the major league draft and play
in the minor leagues.
Coach Basilone is
an enthusiastic, experienced and well organized coach with exceptional
player motivation and development skills. With the experience of
extensive instruction and team leadership coach Basilone has become
effective at giving players the opportunity to develop and achieve
success on the high school and college level.
This is Coach
Hreha's eighth year teaching and first year coaching. Coach Hreha is a
North Allegheny Baseball alumni who began playing for North Allegheny at
Ingomar Middle School and spent three years at the varsity level as a
middle infielder. He was a member of the 1994 runner-up WPIAL and State
squad as well as a captain of the 1996 WPIAL and State Championship
team. Coach Hreha is an excellent motivator who helps to provide a
positive environment that is focused on learning and improvement of
fundamental skills.
Coach Hreha enjoys
teaching athletes the skills he has learned throughout the years. He is
looking forward to a great season, and he is excited about this year's
dedicated team at Ingomar Middle School.
Coach Basilone
feels that Coach Hreha will be a big part in the developmental process
of these fine young players at Ingomar Middle School. He understands
the system that coach Basilone runs and will be able to teach it to the
young players at Ingomar. We are very fortunate to have Coach Hreha as
part of our program and educational staff.
